TACTICS AND CLASSES

Post by shadowhunter on Thu Jan 01, 2009 10:13 am

ok you lazy basterd's this is one of the tingh's died for:

First thing I want to discuss are classes. Now, your class is going to be the key to your playing style. It decides what kind of player you are. There are many types of players, such as:

-Assault, You're more of the player that tends to run in to the heat of battle and rack up massive kills; however, this also means that you're going to have more deaths then any other type of player. This class if the most often used, although it is hardly used correctly.

-Stealth, If sneaking around is your thing then you're in this class. The stealthy players are generally the ones that always have a positive score with the least amount of deaths. Although their kills might not match an assault player, their kill/death ratio is going to be a lot better. This class is the most deadly of any class.

-Sniper, What gets the blood pumping more then sniping someone from over 5000m away? Nothing. Knowing that you're out of the heat of battle is a safe feeling and for just in-case, you'll have those lovely claymores at your side. Say hello to my little friend, *click*. Thing about snipers is there are two types. Your first style is the most common. You’ll be your most known sniper, sitting back and picking people off from the same-safe location. The second type is the moving man. This is the guy with the semi-auto weapon that seems to be everywhere. These players are always stressing people out. Thing about these two classes is that they are much like the Assault and Stealth players. Assault and Moving Snipers generally are impatient and trade fewer deaths for more kills. Stealth and Sitting Snipers generally go for the best kill/death ratio. No matter what kind of sniper you are, movement is going to be the same. In the sniper's manual, you'll more detail on this and the general basic and advance tactics of a sniper.

-Noob, Sadly many people are in this class and don't think they are. Mostly because they are 'cocky' or just don't even know what they are doing is called 'noobish'. This is the Last Stand, Martyrdom, and RPG players. Yeah, kills are kills; however, when you wear those {$Lcrz} tags, playing like a champion and not a noob means a great reputation for the clan. Players in this area like to think it takes 'skill' to use all these perks. Sorry to tell you, it doesn't. Thing is the players that end up with the better score then you, the ones that kick your RPG firing ass, yeah, they are the better players. Players that play in this 'noobish' style don't benefit themselves in anyway, actually they become worse.Nothing better then having 0% skill going into a no RPG, Marty, or Last Stand severs for a scrimmage.

There are many playing styles and classes. There can be many mixed styles, such as the rusher (assault/stealth mix). These are just the basics and most common in the Call of Duty 4 world. A lot of these styles are based of the perks and weapons that you use.

-Assault, The name does hint the kind of weapons that a player uses. Basically they use a wide variety of the assault weapon selection; most common is the M4 or AK-47. They also can use the LMG weapon selection; however, I put these players in a whole other class. Blue Perks are your choice; I recommend the Frag x3 or Bandolier. These allow you to be more dominating on the field, getting more kills. Nothing spells crazy badass then hardly ever running out of ammo allowing you to rock up an even larger kill steak. As for Red Perks, I would run Double Tap, Stopping Power, and Juggernaut. All are great perks, some are better then others, depending on the gun you are using. For my Assault classes, I have the M4-Red Dot, Frag x3, Stopping Power, and Steady Aim. Stopping Power adds a 40% increase to damage. This allows the M4 to have more use from a further range. Many argue with Double Tap for this gun, personally I love it, but I am trying something new using Stopping Power. Double Tap does allow you to drop enemies faster; however, takes more ammo then Stopping Power and you'll really find yourself out of ammo in no time. My other assault class is the M16A4, an amazing gun itself. The first and possibly best gun you get in the game. With a burst fire of 3 bullets, you'll never have to fear not killing the enemy. In rare occasions, he might end up remain standing and that is nothing that Stopping Power can't handle. The AK-47 is the same way; put Stopping Power on that bad boy and damn son you have a gun! My personal favorite is the G36C, a gun that can be used in many styles. Nothing asks for more kills then my G36C-Red Dot, Bandolier, Double Tap, Deep Impact. Try out this style if it sounds like you. I suggest that you try out guns, attachments, and perks, too. Everyone has their own taste so try and find yours. We'll have a assault guide coming soon so check it out! Next up, stealth classes.

-Stealth, The most deadly of all the classes in the game. Never knowing where the enemy is really freaks them out and plays a huge advantage on your part. Think about it, a much better kill/death ratio is the goal behind most games. Being hidden in S&D, Sabotage, Headquarters, and even fast playing styles like TDM and while always being a top player. Patience is the key to this class. Running to battle, jumping around, taking the shortcuts through enemy fire, leave this all to the Rushers and the Assault players. Nothing is more embarrassing then kicking the enemy’s ass without them even knowing what hit them. Plus, the knife is my favorite weapon in the game and it is used a lot here. Of course the main weapons that stealth style players use are the Sub Machine Guns, and the most common of all is the MP5. Other then the P90, the MP5 is one of the best stealth guns in the game. Of course as this class you’ll want to use a silencer and the recoil on the MP5 is really light. The other guns in the class are nice as well having the Skorpion with its amazing accuracy and NO recoil. These perks, in case you don’t know, are UAV jammer and Dead Silence. As for Blue Perk, I use Flash x3. Different people will argue this, such as Shock; however, I prefer Flash x3 for those times when I am raiding a room or outnumbered. You’re also subject to using the G36C and G3 for this style as well. I have seen the G36C used a lot and the G3 almost as much, but I class the G36C under the Rusher’s style and the G3 under the Moving Sniper style. Stealth classes are pretty much the same, just stay calm, stay low, move quiet, and always take back ways. I highly suggest you read our stealth guide for all the advance and basics for this style of playing.

-Snipers, An amazing style if you can play it right. There is a wide selection of rifles to use and your choice is your own. Your choice is really based off your playing style though. I’ll cover two types of sniping methods and styles. The first method is the most basic and almost the only known method of sniping; however, there are indeed two. Anyways, the first method is the ‘patient sniper’. These are the guys that really lay the hurt down. I like to think of these guys are the ‘stealthy style’ players if sniping. They stay calm, take advantage of the range between you and them, and don’t mind getting a low kill count. All they worry about is getting that glorious kill/death ratio. No matter if they are at the top of the boards or in the middle somewhere, if that ratio is amazingly positive then you have a good sniper. My sniper class is made up of the R700, Claymores x2, UAV jammer, and Dead Silence. The reason I use the R700 is that it is truly a beautiful gun. It has amazing sound and looks, as well as accuracy, despite the recoil. The R700 truly shows off a sniper’s skill. Nothing is more pleasing then a Claymore saving your life too. Use what ever sniper you like, semi-auto or bolt, just make sure you can hit the target and take them down. Stopping Power and Iron Lungs are your next best perk choice. Stopping Power really helps take down those pesky players that run from you. I love to have this on any semi-auto that you plan on using. Iron Lung is for snipers that play fast moving servers and maps; however, I don’t suggest it to skilled snipers or slower moving servers and maps, it is just un-needed. The M40A3 has amazing accuracy and the M21 you don’t even need to hold your breath with, once you learn how to handle it. Now that we have the sitting sniper style down lets talk about the moving man style. This is more of the ‘assault style’ sniping method. Movement is the key to this style and the weapon choice is as well. Player that plays this style will use semi-auto rifles and assault rifles, such as the M14 and the G3, to snipe with. This is possible with the ACOG scope, the cross between Red-Dot and an actual Sniping Scope. Perks depend on what weapon you use and what side you take more, stealthy or assault. No matter what style of sniping you play movement is always going to be the biggest challenge and it always has to be done right, before you are done medium-rare. Check out our guide to learn more about how to handle and play both styles.

Re: TACTICS AND CLASSES

These recent reviewed classes are just the basic styles of playing. There are many more styles are either based of these classes, by changing them up a bit or by mixing them, and there are others that are just their own little styles. These are very important as they tend to take some of the best and worse of the styles they are based from.

-Heavy Assault, Our first style of playing that is based of the basic styles if the Heavy Assault, also known as the Suppressor Style. This style can be classed off of Assault; however, I believe that this style is a style of its own. This is your LMG class and is a very powerful, yet slow, style of playing. LMGs are great for fast maps and keeping the enemy on their toes. They are great at suppressing fire, taking down helios, and kicking some major ass. I personally enjoy the M249 SAW-Grip, Stopping Power, and Deep Impact. Yes, the M249 SAW is the weakest of the LMGs but its accuracy is unmatched compared to the other two. With the Grip added to it and Stopping Power, you’re going to have yourself one Hell of a weapon, not to mention it has the fastest reload time of all three (3 secs). LMGs are really slow so you’ll want to stay put and stay back with them. They are great in scrimmages where your teammates need cover fire and protection. LMGs are the added power to an already powerful punch.

-Rusher, This style is a mix between the much powerful Assault and the deadly Stealth. Here you’ll have the power to rush behind enemy lines while remaining hidden for a time. This class is actually very popular it’s self and is widely used without anyone really knowing. The thing that makes players a Rusher is their choices of perks and weapon. This is where you mixed the Assault and Stealth classes for a higher kill count than Stealth style and a slightly higher kill/death ratio than the Assault style. I am a big fan of this style of playing because it really does wonders. I personally use the M4 Carbine-G3, Overkill, and Dead Silence. This allows me to have a powerful weapon with the ability of being sneaking around. Double Tap allows me to kill the enemy 13% faster then Stopping Power would. Rushers are the most balanced style of playing in the game.

There you have your basic and most commonly known classes in the game. I have played all these classes and have really done a number with them. I suggest that you try each with any weapons that you would like to get the feel for them. I also highly suggest that you check out my more in-depth guides to each class. If you have any comments or replies please feel free to leave some! Next up we have: communication, movement, tactics, and maps.

Re: TACTICS AND CLASSES

Post by shadowhunter on Thu Jan 01, 2009 10:25 am

Ok, so we have gone over the meat of the meal, classes and playing styles. Now, we get to enjoy the side entrees. So lets talk about tactics and movement along with maps and communication!

-Movement, This is really the most important survival method that you MUST learn. Movement means life or death on the battlefield and movement is based on your style of playing, too. The basics in all styles of playing are keep low and move smart and slow. As an assault player you want to move into the field, head-on. Stay behind cars, walls, etc. Any cover will really keep you alive and on your feet. Keep pressure on the enemy and let them know who you are. As for stealth players, you know that you’re goal is to get behind enemy lines, you take the long and safe way. Use cover, move slowly, and take your time. When you get behind those lines it’ll be worth it with kills. Pre-aim around every corner and you’ll work wonders. As for the sniping class, stay calm and move even slower. I really suggest you read the sniper’s guide on how to move correctly and safely.

-Tactics, Oh yeah, this is really what decides if your clan has what it takes to play others. Tactics of course you might want to read the guide about; however, here is the run down. Each class and style of playing has a goal and mission. Assault is to lead the group head-on. They keep the pressure on the enemy and keep them focused on you. While this is happening Stealth style players are going to be moving in behind enemy lines. This is where the Assault class must keep the entire enemy’s focus on them. LMGs and Snipers must cover the Assault and Stealth styles. LMGs can suppress fire with either spray for no cause or actually mixing it with kicking enemy ass. Snipers are the ones that really have to take down the other team’s front lines and other damaging players. Snipers focus on the players that might have your team in lock down. Remember, being the team in lockdown is a good but bad thing. Means that the enemy is kicking your ass and you’re getting ready to defend and hopefully turn the tables around. (WE NEED TO START USING THIS)
